It is New Year's eve, all the Christmas decorations have been put away, the kids are busy with their new gadgets, and Farmer D is busy tiling the guest bathroom (more on that project when it is done) and I am eager to start my planning for Cottonwood Row 2016.
We have been here for 2 years and have learned quite a bit. Things like how to irrigate the field without flooding out our neighbors, how to harvest honey, and how many different ways one can use an overabundance of eggs. While I'm sure there is more still to learn, we are ready for the next round of gardening, farming, and animal husbandry.
I am anxiously waiting for my newest Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Catalog. I just love looking at all the different heirloom seeds. I've had good luck with the packets and varieties I have received from them and always look forward to another interesting new tomato or melon to try.

I want to add that I'm not being reimbursed for mentioning the company. It just happens to be where I like to order my seeds. Non-GMO, organic, heirloom and rare varieties. What's not to love? If you want to check them out here is their website. You can't blame me if you get addicted to trying out new and delicious varieties!
I have to confess that though I really want to have a green thumb it doesn't always work out. This year's garden as a case in point. But my enthusiasm is always there! I will let you know what seeds tempt me this year.
Before I go back to perusing all the wonderful seed varieties I want to wish you and yours a wonderful and prosperous New Year.

Cosmonaut Volkov heirloom tomato. It was delicious and HUGE at over 11 ounces. |
