A little bit about our farm.
Cottonwood Row is a little over 5 acres in size, 4 of which are pasture acres.
The pastures are C-shaped around the house, barn and orchard.
You can see happy cows grazing in our 3/4 acre front pasture in the above photo.
It was taken from our front porch.
It still makes me a bit giddy to see cows outside my front door.
Our 1/2 acre side pasture was disc'd this spring to make a humongous garden.
Mr. Farmer has dreams of a lot of corn on the cob.
I'm trying to talk him down.
Coworkers may find they've been corn-bombed come late summer.
The back pasture is about 3 acres, lined across the east side with Poplars and a
small patch of blackberries we planted last spring.
It is looking pretty sparse right now in that photo, but it will green up once the irrigation is turned on.
We have a large barn, that was originally set up with stalls for horses and a large shop.
I love the weather vanes.
What barn is complete without a rusty star?
Much to our daughter's disappointment we bought cows instead of horses.
The previous owners already had garden space which we will be keeping.
(And I will again attempt to have a green thumb.)
A chicken coop was already here- seen in the background of the garden photo and below.
And the corral...full of weeds.
For some reason cows don't like the weeds.
On our farm we have 7 chickens - some of which are camera shy.
This is the only photo where all are present..
They follow me where ever I go in the yard, hoping for some chicken crack scratch.
You've seen our 3 cows in the first photo, but here is another of of them
happily grazing just past our backyard fence.
We hope that their visitations with Mr. Bull last year were successful and that
three little calves will be joining the farm this summer.
That is pretty much the extent of the farm and animals.
